Tuesday lunchtime is Pain in the Domain. For those who don't know what it is, there is a good description here. The quality of the sessions often vary depending on who leads the groups...and so i usually plump for those groups whose leaders i recognise and who run a good session.
Today i went in group 3, the bunny group, known as such as the particular leader in question likes to choose members of the group to chase during the various sprints. Hence it pays to know this in advance so that you can slink to the back of the group before the sprint starts and chase rather than be chased. I have been the "bunny" before but spent two days recovering so have tried to avoid this ever since. It wasn't a very pleasant experience.
Nice day out there today, quite warm in the sun, but with a nice breeze in from the harbour. There was a relatively large group of us, probably about 20, down to about 15 by the time the session had ended.
I felt strong throughout today, especially at the end which suggests i didnt push myself hard enough, probably with squash in mind tonight. My legs appeared to have recovered since yesterday's run though which is encouraging.
On reflection I think i need to start pushing the gate to gate (750m sprint) harder and try to get the time for this section of the run closer to 2.30. For some reason i always seem to pass Mike doing his HURTS sessions during this part of the run. Unfortunately we are both running at threshold pace at the time and so there is very rarely any social interaction aside from the odd half hand wave!
750m/gate to gate time: 2.39Total time: 29.56
Total distance: 5.7km
