Warm swim and footy victory

An 8pm footy kick off meant I had time for a swim before the game.

Got in the pool for about 7pm and immediately set about attacking my target of 1500m, to be broken down into 3 x 500m intervals.

Made it through the first 500m with the second 500m also flying by. Not fast, but comfortable, settling into a nice rhythm by the end of each set. Feeling good and strong.

Decided to split the last 500 into 300/200 with an eye on the footy game.

All up 1500m and feeling comfortable throughout, giving me a confidence booster that my swimming is still on track and I am managing to keep up with my target of 1500m a week. The strength work I have been doing recently may actually be working too as the pull and return part of the stroke felt strong as well.

Backed up on the footy court for our next game. Playing Ernst & Young who were a couple of places ahead of us albeit on the same points, but with a superior goal difference. Which doesn't really take much really given our lack of goals.

We started well and took the lead mid way through the first half - Gary turning smartly to bend one past their keeper. We then doubled our lead thanks to yours truely just before half time. A nice finish even though I say so myself across the goalkeeper and into the back of the net. I also smacked the post just before the break....so close to two goals!

The second half continued in a similar vein with Tom putting us 3 goals ahead with a smart finish into the top corner. We then cruised for the rest of the game, apart from a ridiculous own goal, again from yours truely. The softest pass back you are ever likely to see rolling under Rich's foot into the back of the net. Apparently he was already thinking about his pass before the ball reached him - or something like that.

All in all an average performance against a team we really should have put away earlier. Not helped by the fact that they had a "proper" keeper in goal which makes a big difference on the 5-a-side court. Shame not to keep a clean sheet either.
